Varieté! The Festival was created with an aim of bringing good quality performances to the community through non-ticketed events.

The inaugural festival in 2007 featured Varieté! Street Theatre & Varieté! Comedy in your Community. More than 37,000 people attended the performances.

Varieté! Street Theatre 2008 is presented by SHINE, a youth festival supported by the National Youth Council and the Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports and is held in conjunction with National Day Celebrations, supported by National Day Parade 08. It is the First All-Japanese Street Performance Festival outside Japan. A total of 50 shows will be staged over 17 days from 25 July to 10 August reaching out to 30,000 audiences.
